Small is Beautiful !!

In the scorching summers of Delhi if somebody wants to go out on a weekend …where would he will  go? May be on a hill station…if working or staying out of hometown then probably back home or at the most on a date with his girl friend…….you might be surprised to find out  where I went…..its Rajasthan. Yes I got an invitation from my senior to visit Ajmer.

On a sunny Saturday morning we started our journey….we…oh I forgot to tell you about my another senior Nikhil who went along with me. He stays in Gurgaon and works in a VAS company which he has recently joined. We woke up late so instead of metro we took an auto rickshaw by shelling out Rs 30/- extra. That’s what happens when you party late night and talks about college days holding a bottle of Beer in your hand, gulping one after the other.

Finally, From sarai Rohilla boarded Garib Rath train which actually made us Garib. We got confirmed ticket a day before the journey but the congested seats….Phew. Somehow managed to sneak in and spent 7 hrs playing my iPod. Reached Ajmer at 4.30 in the evening and Amish was there to receive us. His family gave us a warm welcome. He never told us that he had two cute doggies in his family. They just look cute but actually they are not. We had pyaj ki kachori n big samosa which Amish said is very famous in Ajmer. They were too hot for me and I ended up drinking a full bottle of water.

We left for Pushpak temple ( the only temple of Brahma as people out there said so ). There is a sunset point near the temple where you will find a pond and people during the holy season takes bath in it. Wherever I went saw only 1 thing except gurudwaras…More the money you offer in your pray, more will be the blessings. 100 Bucks will make the Pandit murmur mantra’s on your behalf. Amish and Nikhil ate Malpuae and Rabri and I just tasted because already stuffed with samosa and kachori. So I preferred a chilled Sugarcane juice to satiate my thirst.
Had a wonderful dinner cooked by Amish’s mum and she stuffed us till our stomach came on the verge to burst out.

In the morning we went to Ajmer Sharif Durgah. Bought a sheet (chadar) to offer during the pray and the shopkeeper himself took us into the Durgah. I thought, he is a good guy who wants to delight his customers. Inside the holy place, it’s like a square. The holy Durgah was located inside the inner square and people were moving on the outer. The inner square was filled with people who took offerings from pilgrims where I found the shopkeeper shouting towards us. I was surprised to found him out there and he took sheets from us and prayed then he asked for offering (money). Then I realised what the real deal is. People are too hungry for money. When you pray and wish for something then you need to tie a thread out there. I did so and came out. Outside the Durgah you will find lots of shops. But beware of beggars and pocket pickers.

Amish Daniell and his affectionate family made this visit very special. we left at 3.20 and  came back Delhi via shatabdi.

I can feel the joy, happiness for being there. The vast diversity in people in their religion, culture and language makes it more beautiful. Ajmer is a small city and every journey will teach you something.
 ‘Small is Beautiful’.

Life is a journey so keep moving!!
